Ted’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On March 2nd, Ted was diagnosed with Carcinoid tumors in his small intestine and liver. On April 1st, he underwent surgery to remove the tumors and the surgery ended up being far more extensive than originally expected. Recovery has been slower and more complicated than we’d hoped. The surgery was just the first step. Another procedure is scheduled for the end of the month and chemotherapy will follow.
Ted’s paid time off has been completely used up (as of early April) and it will be another several weeks before he’s strong enough to go back to work full time. Deanna works part time and also missed several days of work during the week Ted was in the hospital and his first week home, and has been managing his medications, home care, doctors appointments, ER visits, paying bills, etc. since he came home.
Many of you can imagine or have first-hand experience with the emotional and physical exhaustion that happens in these situations.
Insurance covered most the of the surgery costs, however, Ted is facing another procedure at the end of the month, with an overnight hospital stay. Once he’s healed from the surgery and the next procedure, he will meet with the medical oncologist to plan for chemotherapy to treat the cancer in the lymph nodes and anywhere else in his body that can’t be treated with surgery.
Ted & Deanna are two of the kindest, most humble people you could ever meet! They are most comfortable serving others, so asking for help is very difficult. Here’s our chance to love and support them in a time of great need!!
Funds raised will be used to cover living expenses (mortgage, car payment, utilities, etc.) due to missed wages and any medical expenses (deductibles, co-pays, etc.) that aren’t fully covered by insurance. This will allow them to focus on Ted’s recovery and upcoming treatments without the stress and anxiety of worrying how they’re going to pay day-to-day bills with no income!
