FISH goes to Edinburgh FRINGE
Donation protected
TL;DR: We're taking our show, FISH, to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August and we'll need the help of our community to get there!
WHAT
FISH is a one-woman clown show starring Funmi Adejobi, directed/co-devised by Chris Manley and produced by Shaina Feinberg. We knew we had a special show on our hands as we built it, but we never could have anticipated how successful our (standing room only! completely sold out!) premier would be at the Brooklyn Comedy Collective this past January, or how much our audience would connect with it. We took this wind at our backs and leapt, applying to venues at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We secured a spot with Greenside, a theater we love who loves us, and we're so excited to make our International Premiere with them.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
We need your help to get to Scotland! Every last cent we receive will help us cover the cost of production for our 21-show run, including travel to (and lodging in) Edinburgh, venue and festival fees, a tech person, marketing, props, costumes, etc. Share this GFM with your wealthy parents, philanthropist friends, and patrons of the arts. Every penny counts!!!

ABOUT THE SHOW
FISH is about a fish who wants to be a girl. She wants to learn how to exist in this sometimes dark, sometimes silly and always complicated world. Working with the audience, Adejobi's Fish learns how to walk, talk and struggle with the crushing weight of existential worry in a stupid flesh suit. Ultimately, FISH is about how to find joy, purpose and community in this moment.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Funmi Adejobi (she/her) is a clown, theater divisor, and a New Yorker. She trained in France at École Philippe Gaulier with Carlo Jacucci, Michiko Gaulier and Kristine Landon-Smith. Funmi trained in New York City with Tallie Medel (Everything Everywhere All At Once), Chris Manley (Cirque du Soleil), Jeff Seal (The New York Times) and Eric Davis (Red Bastard). Funmi spent years struggling to balance her life and the multi-generational caretaking required of her after a family tragedy left her feeling lost, stagnant and empty. Looking for an outlet to express her emotions, Funmi discovered the art of clown. Now, she performs all over Brooklyn (and select parts of Manhattan!) solo and with her troupe “Lovely Day.” With her new show, FISH, she is putting shape to the feeling.
Chris Manley (he/they) is an American writer, performer and clown. He is best known for his character Buttons. He was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for his performance in "The Nosebleed," has performed with Cirque du Soleil and is honored to be listed in Le Petit Clown August Alphabetique alongside Abbott & Costello. He has performed at Lincoln Center, Ars Nova, The Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, The People’s Improv Theater, the Toronto Sketch Fest and the Chicago Sketch Fest. You can see him in several national commercials and award winning films.
Shaina Feinberg (she/they) is an award-winning American filmmaker, writer and producer. She spent her twenties making a stoner, punk sketch show called The Spew. She has been on This American Life, was a resident at Space on Ryder Farms (2018) and Twenty Summers (2021), a Reel Families for Change grantee (2022), a recipient of the Reboot Studios grant (2023), her short film Cleo From 8:20 to 2:35 was awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts grant (2024) and she is a Jewish Film Institute resident (2025) with her feature documentary, None of This Matters. Her short doc, A Brief History of Hating My Face (2023), was commissioned by The New York Times. She has written for The New Yorker, Washington Post and regularly for the New York Times for the past five years. Her third book, Work (2024), has a starred review from Kirkus, Publishers Weekly and Book Page. Her films and books have been written about in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Bust, Broadly, Logo, THEM, Indiewire and more. She lives in Brooklyn with her partner and their two children.
