Hi, My name is John Ellison. I am putting this fundraiser together in the hope that I can raise enough money to pay for years worth of medical bills for both myself and my wife, Fontaine, and to avoid foreclosure on our home of more than 15 years. We have raised our children in this home while also caring for my mother-in-law, who is medically homebound.

Fontaine and I have faced several health issues over the years. Fontaine is a former EMT who was struck by a vehicle while performing her duties years ago. Since 2004 Fontaine has required two knee replacements, two hip replacements and 14 surgeries on her spine alone. More recently, Fountaine was diagnosed with Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF), which adversely affects the fluid and tissue around the spinal cord and brain. As a result, she experiences persistent, piercing headaches that have left her with constant, debilitating pain. As a result, I have been unable to leave her unattended as she needs round-the-clock assistance. We have traveled from our home in upstate New York to New York City multiple times for appointments and medical procedures in our search to alleviate her pain. Unfortunately, this search has been unsuccessful thus far.

While attempting to resolve Fontaine's latest medical issue, we have often been left with the decision to treat her CSF or pay essential bills. Seeing her in constant pain made this choice relatively easy until I was recently notified our home had fallen into foreclosure. One of the few comforts Fontaine and I could have during these procedures was knowing we had a home to return to. Unfortunately, we now face the harsh reality that her pain will continue, and we will also lose our home.

All the money donated here will go directly towards treating Fontaine's crippling pain from her CSF. I hope Fontaine can return to a more normal, tolerable standard of living. The daily headaches have made her completely miserable, and I feel helpless as I do not know how to improve it.

Any money raised from this fundraiser will go directly towards treating Fontaine's CSF and paying to get our home out of foreclosure. Ultimately my goal is to provide Fontaine. As her caretaker and husband, I am merely trying to provide my wife with a more normal and tolerable living standard in our home. Any amount you might be able to donate will bring Fontaine and me a little closer to this goal.
