Hi my name is Nyrobi Manuel, and I am a junior at Duke. In October, I was involved in a car accident on my way to class. A driver, going above the speed limit in a school zone, hit my car, leaving me with limited access to campus and around town. Not only was I dependent on my car for travel to school, work, and around town but I am attending school out of state and drove my vehicle here. In order to get home, I need to drive my car back at the end of the semester. Furthermore, I am studying abroad next semester, so I have to take all of my belongings.

Besides this debilitating accident, this semester has been extremely difficult. I have experienced a number of health issues, I have been supporting my family, and working to pay my own financial obligations all while trying to maintain a high GPA.

My insurance deductible, car lot fees, and court fees are very hefty, and I c can only afford to pay very little as I am a first-generation low-income student that supports my family. Any support would be much appreciated!
