It seemed at least once every month for about a year Shameka was getting sick. She would end up staying several days at a time in the hospital due to her vomiting and losing a lot of weight very fast. However, each time, she would leave with little to no answers as to why. Her diet completely changed, because she literally could not eat certain foods anymore. It wasn't until Shameka went to a different hospital with a friend that something changed.
Shameka was at a doctors appointment to accompany her friend when the doctor saw a large protrusion on the side of Shameka's neck. By the time her friends appointment was over, things were just getting started for Shameka. The doctor had admitted her to the hospital. After a series of test, more visits to the doctor, and hospital stays, Shameka was diagnosed with Lymphoma.
I see her almost weekly at our church, Tabernacle of Faith Baptist Church, where she has been an Usher for six years. When she is not too sick or working, yes somehow she has still managed to work during this difficult time, she is at church with her family who have attended for over 37 years. Shameka graduated from Centennial High School and currently studies at El Camino College and Los Angeles Trade Tech College. She is extremely positive and plans on beating Lymphoma to pursue her goal of becoming a D.E.A. and a Pediatrician. Her family, her friends, and her church members are supporting her in this fight!! Please send your prayers, positive thoughts, and if you are able a monetary gift to help pay for Shameka's medical treatment. We need you to join forces with us in making sure Shameka has everything she needs to become the next Lymphoma Survivor!!!!
Shameka's Most Urgent Need:
Her Doctor has confirmed that Shameka has Stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She needs to start chemo ASAP, however, Shameka is only 21 and her doctor is concerned about her ability to have children once she begins Chemo and deals with its effects on her body and Uterus.
She needs to see a Fertility Specialist and have a special procedure done BEFORE her Chemo Therapy can start. The amount requested will cover the full cost of the procedure for this year.
We do not have any time to lose! Your gift is so valuable- anything you can give. Really, ANYTHING you can give to help Shameka pay for this procedure will bring her closer to starting her Chemo Therapy without the worry of infertility later.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any gift amount that you can give!!!
