First Aid Access

Hello! My name is Esha Patel and I am a 3rd year student at Nova Southeastern University in the Razor’s Edge Global Program. I am starting an initiative called First Aid Access to make emergency medical kits and distribute them to areas in rural India. In these areas, access to healthcare is limited because of lack of infrastructure, professionals, and transportation. These areas also suffer from underfunding and shortages of medical supplies. Women, children, and other marginalized groups are often targeted by violent crimes in these areas. Additionally, these areas often experience natural disasters such as floods. Both situations cause individuals to experience negative consequences to their health requiring immediate treatment. This initiative aims to resolve the lack of timely, affordable, and effective emergency medical care by distributing kits with basic supplies and instructions on their usage as well as possible substitutes such as everyday objects that individuals can use when they don’t have access to these kits or other supplies.
