First-Generation First-Abroad: London

My name is Susana Contreras, I'm a first-generation college student and the first in my family to not only overseas but study and work there. Because of tight finances, I opted for a London program hosted by my university that transfers all of our university-based scholarships to studying abroad. This however, has only covered my tuition.

I am currently working 2 jobs in addition to weekend nannying but given how expensive London is won't be able to manage off minimum wage. My parents want to support me but having immigrated to the US with an elementary school education, they're hardly making enough to cover their growing medical expenses. During my time at school I dedicate my academics and my professional works to empower disenfranchised communities, so I have seen some very beautiful parts of humanity where different communities come together to assist one another. So this time, I'm asking, if it is possible and you are so willing, to assist me in becoming the first in my family to go abroad to London, England.

I would be so very humbled and so very grateful for any amount or even hand-me-downs (scarves, waterproof gear). Growing up in the southwest I have virtually no clothes for London weather. I can't express enough my gratitude for taking the time to hear me out.
