IT IS A DEFINITE GO ON THE FIREWORKS! GARRISON COMMERCIAL CLUB WILL BE HAVING FIREWORKS ON THE 4TH OF JULY, WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP! IF YOU WANT TO MAIL YOUR DONATION SEND IT TO GARRISON COMMERCIAL CLUB, P.O. BOX 123, GARRISON, MN 56450.
Garrison Minnesota. Small town America located along Lake Mille Lacs with the photo famous Giant Walleye provided by the Garrison Commercial Club located at the Historic Concourse, beautiful in the great north. For years, the Garrison Commercial Club along with the Garrison VFW Post 1816 have contributed to our Fireworks display on the 4th of July over Lake Mille Lacs, this year’s Fireworks is in danger of not happening due to funding.
Garrison Commercial Club and VFW Post 1816 both use funds from charitable gambling to put on the 4th of July Fireworks. With the State shutting down businesses no charitable gambling has been allowed to run, Pull Tabs we miss ya! Along with a 4 out of 5 star charitable donation rating to area organizations and people, the Garrison Commercial Club takes pride in the patriotism we are able to celebrate with our summertime visitors to the Lake Mille Lacs area with a wonderful Fireworks display for the 4th of July!
Given the horrible event of the Covid 19 outbreak the ability to pay for the Fireworks is frozen and unknown. Every day the State does not allow bars to be open no one is benefiting.....but wait, the State still charges the taxes for gambling and believe me they are in the thousands monthly! Any savings in the charitable gambling account are dwindling fast! Time is of the essence! Cities are canceling summertime events all over! Garrison Commercial Club had to cancel our 25th year Play Days Festival held the end of July!
Discussion on canceling 4th of July Fireworks was held last week at the first meeting in two months, after the Pledge of Allegiance, (yes people still do this) the membership got to the discussion of cancelling the 4th of July Fireworks we even had a representative from the pyrotechnic company to give us options on cost. We have until June 9th at our next meeting to give a contract amount. The Garrison Commercial Club and the Garrison VFW Post 1816 cannot this year of all years cancel the 4th of July! We must somehow someway celebrate our GREAT Unites States of America with a beautiful Fireworks display like we always do! Please help us we need you.
