Help Us Fire Up The Kiln At Camphill Soltane!

A Hot Mess…
In June 2023, the old kiln at Camphill Soltane stopped reaching the high temperatures of over 2,000 degrees necessary for glaze firing pottery. Our Entwine Pottery Instructor, Ryan, has worked tirelessly to troubleshoot and repair the kiln over and over to no avail with countless replacements of coils, thermocouples, and patching fire brick. Our kiln is highly essential to our pottery studio with the firing process consisting of multiple stages. The kiln dries and hardens the clay and then cures the glaze providing vibrant color and high-grade protection from moisture and repeated wear. Without a working kiln, our unfinished pottery is piling up!
A Surefire Solution!
There are currently 27 artists with and without disabilities in the pottery studio each week that heavily rely on a working kiln in order to complete their one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces. A brand new kiln will ensure that we have reliable equipment to bring creative visions to life for art shows, personal gifts, and artisan collections. Plus, with our ever growing studio, we are investing in the future by accommodating more artists, more clay firing, and more therapeutic creativity!
