Hi, my name is Maeve Doran. I am trying to raise funds for the firefighters charity and my local Scouts (34th Kingsthorpe)

The firefighters charity is important to me as my father is a firefighter and has used their services, after he had a motorbike accident it was the firefighters charity that helped him get back to work. The local Scouts of which I have been a part of since the age of five helped me during Covid , the scouts helped me and my brother cope with the difficult situation by running events online every week and continue to help the kids in the local community learn skills and have experiences they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to do.

I plan to swim the equivalent of the English channel which is 21 miles over a period of a month or so . I will try and do as many miles each week as possible. Any funds that I manage to raise I will split between the two charities which will enable them both to offer their services in the future.
