Veteran Asheville (NC) Firefighter Dewayne Fender was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November 2020.
After 27 years of service to his community, Dewayne is now fighting for his life and the retirement he deserves.
Several doctor visits during the fall yielded no results until he got the terrible news that he had a malignant tumor on his pancreas.
By the time doctors found it, the cancer had spread to his stomach. But Dewayne is a fighter. He traveled to Duke University Medical Center where doctors have devised an aggressive treatment plan.
The family's hopes are higher now but such treatment costs money.
Dewayne has served the City of Asheville for almost three decades, and is nearing a well-deserved retirement. He was a firefighter and current serves as a Fire Marshal/Fire Investigator.
Dewayne is a loved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend. Dewayne would do anything for anybody in this community and many know him as such so now it is our time to help the Fender family.
We appreciate any donations you can give to help Dewayne beat this disease and enjoy the life in retirement he has earned. If you’re not able to donate we would love to ask for your thoughts and prayers through this fight!!
