Chance Cown (31y/o) is 6 year member of the Atlanta Fire and Rescue Department. He and is wife Megan (a school teacher in Oconee County, GA. ) are raising two young children ages 3 and 1.
During the annual fire department health and wellness screening it was discovered that Chance had a very rare blood disorder, Atypical Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. There are only 5 other reported diagnoses.
On January 25, 2019, Chance will be undergoing bone marrow transplant procedure at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Thankfully Chance's brother is an ideal match.
Chance and his family are looking at a 12 month recovery period. The first month will be in complete isolation.
This fund is created to help offset the family's expenses from medical and travel as well as the loss of income while in recovery.
