The hot fire burst from the plug under the a/c that had been running constantly in this over 100 degree and more humidity in Dallas. He reached down to try to pull the plug and badly burned his hand.

The picture of Jesus praying at Gethsemane over Granny's kitchen window had been there for as long as I can remember. The water did not knock it down, the smoke discolored it but He watched over my Daddy. Thank you Lord for your mercy.

This picture belonged to my Great-Uncle George who died in 1969. It has been in that kitchen just about my entire life.
You've missed out if you never had biscuits baked golden brown in an O'Keefe & Merritt oven! This beautiful stove was originally my Mamaw Dodd's when my Daddy was a boy in the 1940's. Granny Floyd bought the stove from her in the 1960's and it baked pies, biscuits and the griddle was amazing for Granny's pancakes. Seeing it now, cannot believe it.

Mama and Daddy have been married 55 years and they want to stay on the Floyd Homestead in South Dallas and take care of all of their critters. They have never asked for much. They are the salt of the earth and all who know them love them. My Daddy insisted on putting the geese up that next evening with his bandaged hands and in pain. No complaints.'
We are trying to make that happen, but without insurance in a total loss of a dwelling we are up against the wall.
Would love to be able to find them a very reasonable RV or Camper Trailer to put on the property and live in on a temporary basis.
The expense of installing a telephone pole today, electrical issues, City Codes, Inspections and replacing so very much is beyond what we can do. Getting my parents to allow me to do a Go Fund Me Page for them is very humbling. They have never had help in their lives.

Granny was a huge ELVIS FAN! The house once really was an Elvis shirne as I was growing up. All of her dolls and other collectibles were burned.

We have the utility pole up now and we are praying for help to make their wishes come true. To stay where they belong as long as they are able to be there.
If you can find it in your heart to give $5 or $10 dollars, we would sure be eternally grateful and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts to keep Mama and Daddy happy at home as long as the Good Lord will allow.
There is nothing left to do but tear the house down and that requires a huge dumpster, heavy equipment and a crew to do it. Out of respect, we do not want this Grand Old House to be seen in this light. She was so much more for 112 years... Our hearts will always be here on Ray Road in South Dallas.
Through the years I have shared pictures on Instagram under the hashtag #DallasPioneerFamily1846. Please look at all the love and goodness we have known here at the Floyd Homestead. Est. 1846 by my Great-Great-Great-Grandfather George D. Floyd. Here is the link to the Floyd-Taylor Pioneer Cemetery
