Fire Victim Doug Curtis

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Carol and I'm fundraising for Doug Curtis.
Doug was critically injured in a fire at the Deep Bay Marina on June 5th just after 10:00 a.m.
He and two others were aboard a sailboat that consequently sunk after a fire started from a propane leak.
All the houses in Deep Bay shook, as if an earthquake had happened.
Somehow he managed to pull himself out of the boat, I can only imagine how much pain he was in.

Those at the marina at the time of the explosion were real heroes as they grabbed their fire extinguishers and did everything humanly possible to help before the rescue crews arrived which seemed like an eternity.

Doug was airlifted to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital but unfortunately they were unable to treat his burn injuries so he was subsequently airlifted to Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria.
He has been in a medically induced coma to hopefully reduce the swelling on his face and body and remains on a ventilator.
Doug's two friends who owned the destroyed sailboat are thankfully in stable condition.

Doug Curtis is the Watchman at Deep Bay Marina and takes his job seriously. He is a very kind man, always ready to help all in need of his assistance. He always goes above and beyond his duties ready to assist.
He is well qualified as was a very experienced heavy duty mechanic before being hired as Wharfinger at Deep Bay

He lives on his boat at the marina and loves his life on the water. Doug is famous for his cheerful manner and warm infectious smile.
He's a very proud man and I can only imagine how difficult and painful this must be for him.
Doug is a loving father to his son Trevor who has provided these great attached photos.

I decided to start this Gofundme for Doug so his many friends can show him their support, how special he is and how much we love him.
I've set our donation goal low but am hoping to double this amount many times.
Your donations are greatly appreciated and will be very helpful to get Doug back on his feet once he is hopefully able to get back aboard his beloved boat.
Our prayers are with your Doug.
