Fire tube art installation
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Josh, I’m building an art installation that combines music and fire in the most ascetically pleasing way. The concept is called a Rubins Tube and it uses sound waves to make fire “dance”. The complexity of its operation is a rabbit hole that I won’t take you down, but essentially when a speaker mounted to one end sends sound waves down a tube toward the other end which is sealed it creates a series of high and low pressure. As propane gas is pumped into this tube and exits along a series of very precise linear holes the pressure of the gas exiting varies depending on the pressure and frequency of the sound waves caused by the speaker resulting an a row of flames that dance to music. I’m building (2) 8’ long tubes that will be on display at Burning Man 2023. If I can get proper funding I’ll expand from two tubes to another 2 that stand vertical and are a concept of my own design and likely the first ever to be built. The size and scope of this art piece and attention it will receive will likely propel me into the fire art industry putting me on the map for other venues and opening the door to build more similar hand more complex fire art projects in the future.
Thank you for the consideration in sponsoring my art project!
