Hello, we are Chris and Carroll Veltmann. On April 14th, 2025, we followed our dream of purchasing a small home with a little land. We are retired, and this was our retirement dream. On April 22nd, 2025, our beautiful little home caught fire, and according to the fire department, it was a stray ember from a fire pit somewhere. The point of origin was 20 feet from our home. In 15 minutes our home was gone. It took everything we owned, and 3 of our family members, a 17 year old dog, and a 17 year old cat, and our rescue kitty who was only 5. The fire department was able to rescue Carroll, who was trapped in the home, and she is alive and well. Our insurance was not in effect yet, as they needed to send an agent to evaluate the property, which was to take place the following day. We have a very long road to recovery. But, we are here, our hearts and minds are strong and we will move forward. We must demolish the remains of the home, and work with the county to restore our dream. Currently, we are living in a pull trailer on the property, and with the help of the county, we were able to pull a permit to live here and work on the demolition. Unfortunately, we have spent nearly every dime we saved, to get ourselves into a survivable situation. To continue to move forward, we need a little help financially, so we can get the dumpsters and crew together to help us with this enormous task.
