Fire took everything: Becky and her girls need a home

Donation protected
In the wee hours of Sunday morning, February 9, the rental home my daughter Becky occupied with her two young daughters caught fire. The fire climbed a wall and moved into the attic. The fire spread while the girls slept and quickly engulfed the attic and was burning its way down into the main floor. My eternal gratitude to the neighbor and his hero dog. Said neighbor was woken out of bed by his insistent dog. From two blocks away, he saw flames shooting up into the night. This neighbor called 911 while he RAN the two blocks, pounded on the door, waking the household, and alerting them to the fire. Not only did he get all 3 of them out of the house safely, he also convinced my daughter not to go back inside again. (Material things are not worth your life.) I am positive this man's actions saved the lives of my daughter and two granddaughters. My gratitude for this is simply beyond words.

Becky and the girls pretty much lost everything. Beds, bedding, dishes, pots, pans, electronics, tables, chairs, couches. Everything down to their toothbrushes and daily toiletries was consumed by the fire. Years of hard work building a life for her and the girls just gone in minutes. It has been devastating. Unfortunately, Becky's renter's insurance policy had lapsed. There is no insurance coverage for this loss. The Red Cross came out that night and helped with $650 for immediate needs. For that, we are grateful. Now I am putting up this GoFundMe appeal to help get the girls back into a home of their own. All three girls are staying with us for now, but they need to have normalcy back. They need a home of their own. Becky had been in her last place for over 10 years. It has been shocking going out into today's housing market. OMG. Between first, last, and security deposits, she is looking at something like $8-10K just to walk in the door. Then there are the things to fill that home: beds, bedding, table & chairs, dishes, toiletries, replacement laptops for the girls' schoolwork, backpacks, etc. So very much. I keep repeating to Becky it really will be ok. She is not alone. We will stand with her as will many others. Please help me stand with Becky and the girls and help fill this need. We appreciate any amount you can donate, large or small. Every bit will help this family rebuild. Please share this appeal. Please help us spread the word. Thank you from myself and all of our family.
