Fire Relief Efforts for Sean Harlan

Donation protected
On Monday night (August 31st, 2020), there was a fire at an apartment building complex in the Garden District of New Orleans, Louisiana.  This fire, which as of right now has an unknown origin, started at approximately 8:40pm.  There were 25 apartments in that complex that were being rented, and one of those was being rented by our friend Sean. 26 residents lost their homes that day.

Sean moved down to the area a few years back for a job he accepted right out of college.  This was his home and he had all of his belongings in the apartment.  He was actually in a group call with all of us when the fire started, and it wasn’t until a few minutes later when he realized what was happening.  He quickly got up and ran out of his apartment, and for a few minutes we had no idea what happened to him.  After a few minutes of us worrying about him, we were able to get a hold of him, and while we were pleased to find out he was safe, we quickly learned that the building had caught fire.

The fire itself was finally deemed under control just after 11pm, and all residences of the building were accounted for and safe.  Along with the fire, many of the belongings owned were ruined by extensive water damage.

So, to help Sean, we are asking for donations to help him with the purchase of new clothes, food, and other necessities, such as finding a new place he can call home.  For the time being he has friends places he can stay at until he can truly get back on his feet.

We also want to thank the Firefighters, Police Officers, The American Red Cross, and all others who helped in putting out the fire and making sure everyone was safe and cared for.
