Fire Relief for Gordon Family
Donation protected
The Gordon Family had significant damage to their home from a tragic fire on the evening of June 14th. When the fire started Eartha Foulkes (Gordon) called 911 and rushed to make sure her children and neighbors in the adjoining houses escaped safely as well. That is who Eartha is, someone who cares for others and puts their safety and well-being first. Eartha drives a school bus for special needs children in Fulton County. She is an award-winning driver and cares greatly for the students she serves, sharing information and resources with families from her personal experience of raising a child with developmental disabilities.
Eartha’s daughter Chrissy is almost 21 years old, uses a wheelchair, has a feeding tube, and cannot speak. She enjoys seeing her friends from school, being pushed in her chair on walks, and using the adaptive swing at the park. She brings much joy and laughter to her family. Eartha’s son Josh is 19 years old and just finished his first year at Georgia College on the dean’s list! He is an Eagle Scout and a first-generation college student. He is always working toward his future and is taking online summer classes toward his degree.
Eartha is not a materialistic person and has never had a lot of materials things, but she has always worked hard to provide for her children. Since moving to the US from Jamaica, she has faced many obstacles in life but always believes in God’s plan. Because of life’s obstacles and circumstances, Eartha has had to make tough financial decisions in order to make ends meet and is facing a difficult journey ahead to replace and repair her home. This wonderful family needs basic things like temporary shelter, food, supplies for Chrissy’s medical needs, and money to repair their home to make it livable again.
The community has been asking how to help support this wonderful family, so friends have set up this account.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated! We are looking for 3 people who can give $1000, 6 – 10 people who can give $500, and others who can give anywhere from $25 to $500.
