Fire Relief Fund for the Stephens family
Donation protected
Late at night on June 24, the Stephens family heard a strange popping sound coming from what they thought was outside. But it wasn't a neighbor setting off fireworks - it was coming from their garage. Their garage, as it turned out, was on fire, and within seconds their entire home was engulfed in flames. Fortunately, the Stephens were able to make it out of their house alive and with their cat and wedding album in tow. They lost everything else -- all their belongings, a car in the driveway, and their home of the last 21 years.
The Stephens are now in the unenviable position of having to buy/replace everything that most of us take for granted in our daily lives -- clothing, toiletries, a computer for their college-aged son, you name it... They also face a long road ahead as part of the demolition and rebuilding process. While they have homeowners' insurance, it's unclear how much of their loss will actually be covered and how quickly it will be before they receive any financial assistance from their insurer.
The Stephens are always the first to help out neighbors and our local community in times of need. Now the unthinkable has happened to them. Let's come together and show our support for this kind San Ramon family during this devastating time.
[The proceeds will go directly to the matriarch of the family, Denise Clemetson Stephens.]
