My name is Caitlin Salā and my boyfriend Remy Scott and I are humbly asking for your support after a tragic fire that has left us temporarily out of our unit.

On the morning of November 1st, around 10:00 a.m., a fire broke out in our apartment while we were both away. Our two kittens were inside at the time, but thanks to our quick-thinking neighbor who noticed black smoke coming from the unit and called 911, the fire department arrived within minutes and rescued them safely.

While we are incredibly grateful that everyone, including our pets, made it out unharmed, our living room and kitchen sustained severe fire damage and have been declared a total loss. The rest of our apartment suffered extensive smoke and water damage, rendering it uninhabitable.

At this time, we are staying in a hotel and doing our best to recover what we can. Unfortunately, most of our belongings in the kitchen and living room were destroyed, and we only managed to grab a few essentials.

We’ve started this GoFundMe to help with the following immediate needs:

• Food and living expenses

• Replacement of essential items (clothing, food, and daily necessities)

• Veterinary care and supplies for our kittens

• Assistance in rebuilding and replacing what was lost

This experience has been both shocking and humbling, but we are staying hopeful and grateful for the support of our community. Any contribution—no matter the size—will help us begin the process of rebuilding our lives.
