Fire Relief for Mike & Karen

When Mike & Karen moved from Humboldt County to Paradise in Butte County just over a year ago it was to be closer to their children and grandchildren and to the mountains, meadows, streams, waterfalls and wildlife that they had been exploring in Northern California their entire marriage.

When Karen wasn’t substitute teaching at Paradise High, they spent their days exploring the backcountry or working hard to make the house they’d purchased for retirement into their home. Never folks to sit still, they had been busy transforming their backyard into a place to share with family and friends, and pursing projects room by room to make things just right. 

Like so many others on The Ridge, their lives changed dramatically in a matter of hours. They lost their home, Karen’s car, and the saddest of all (for those that know them well)- their fleet of beloved bicycles. 

Mike and Karen are some of the toughest and most determined people that I have ever been so fortunate to call family, but the days ahead of them will be long, stressful and costly. Anything that you might be able to contribute to ease that burden for them would be so appreciated. Please share far and wide. Thank you!
