Fire Relief for Jake, Kelly, and Elinor

Hello, everyone! We (Jake, Kelly, and Elinor) are seeking help to cover some of the losses we're bearing because of the fire that destroyed our apartment building and prevented us from recovering the vast majority of our belongings.

On March 25, 2022 at 5 am, we were awoken by cops banging on the doors, telling us, "There's a fire in the apartment building; get out now!" The fire started on the opposite end of the building and spread through the attic and roof. You can read more about the fire here.

The building was condemned, and we were displaced from our home. We've incurred over $10k in debt in the two weeks since the fire, frontloading basic needs and costs on our credit cards while waiting to see what insurance will or won't be reimbursing.

We've already learned that our insurance coverage is far less than what it will cost to replace all of our things, and it will be a battle to get as much as we can from them. It will be weeks or months before we even know how much we'll be getting. Additionally, no money can be released to us until the fire department releases the official cause of the fire.
