Fire Relief for Al Bolton
Donation protected
Update: Thank you all so much for your generosity in helping Al!* If you are able, Al asks that you please donate to and/or share her (former) housemates’ GoFundMe’s as well. (While Al was miraculously able to recover some of her stuff, the 3rd floor where both Fi’s and Ashutosh’s rooms were was hit the hardest and they both lost everything.

On Saturday, March 18th, my dear friend Al Bolton lost her apartment to a massive 4-alarm fire in Medford, MA. Thankfully, no humans or animals were hurt, but the house was totaled and Al lost nearly everything in the fire. If you can, please consider donating and/or sharing this fundraiser to help her recoup some of her losses.
I met Al in my Intro to Queer Studies course at Tufts University and quickly became a huge fan. One week, we were tasked with the thought experiment of answering, "What would be an inalienable right in your queer nation?" (Queer studies, right?). Al's answer was something about the inalienable right to intimacy and love in platonic friendships. I didn't know it at the time, but this could not have been a more fitting answer.
Al loves her friends FIERCELY and would do anything for them. From reminding me to eat food to meeting me in Davis in the middle of the night when I was having a crisis - just so we could giggle in the grass, Al has made my time at Tufts not only tolerable - but joyful! She is one of the kindest, smartest, sweetest people I have ever met and I am honored to be her friend.
Now in her last semester at Tufts University, Al was already dealing with the "standard" (yet ridiculous) stressors of one's senior year before the fire happened. While finishing her BA in Community Health, Al has also undertaken the added labor of designing and teaching an amazing course on Disability Theory - something she is both knowledgeable and passionate about and the likes of which did not exist at Tufts until she made it happen.
Al Bolton is already making the world a better place and will continue to do so regardless of whatever hardships life throws her way. That said, she is in need of support! Anything you can contribute to help Al get back on her feet would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Julian Hammond
