Fire relief for Maui and Lahaina Dental Community

Dental hygienists Janet Hagerman and Susan Cotten needed to take action to help the dental community of Lahaina and Maui. Their combined love of Hawaii, Maui, Lahaina, and dentistry, brought them together to identify and fulfill the immediate and future needs of dental colleagues and dental hygiene students on Maui.

The recent devastating fire on Maui destroyed historic Lahaina town. The people of Lahaina are determined to rebuild and keep their land. They need your help

Now is the time for the world of dentistry, to return the spirit of Aloha to the people of Maui and Lahaina, as many have lost everything they had, family, homes, jobs, pets, and dental offices are gone.

In coordination with dental professionals on Maui, Janet and Susan are working to identify, and fulfill, the immediate and future needs of the dental community on Maui, their needs have started coming in and will be ongoing for quite some time.

As of 8/19/23, the immediate identified needs are as follows; financial needs for dental team members who have lost, family, homes, jobs, everything. Scrubs, loupes, and other work-related items were lost when homes and dental offices burned. Dental Hygiene students on Maui have financial needs due to job loss because of the fires.
