My name is Michelle, and I've known Adina and Paul since high school...45+ years now. I'm also a survivor of the Tubbs Fire in 2017. When I learned that Paul and Adina had lost their home to the Hennessey Fire, I knew exactly what they were experiencing and also knew I wanted to help.
The Schwerdtfeger's home was situated on 5-acres of what was beautiful, tree-covered land in Vacaville, California. They have lost everything. While they are grateful for the safety of their family, especially their son, Scott, and their beloved pets, they also have great optimism for how they will overcome this experience and find the silver linings that are waiting for them in the future. These are some amazingly strong friends we have here!
Adina shared, "In October 2006, we realized a longtime dream of living in the country. As longtime business owners, it was our chance to get away from the craziness of each day. As we walked around the property in the evenings, we often said it felt like we were camping out.
We feel the greatest loss on the property is the hundreds of trees and shrubs. We will rebuild the house, but the flora is what will be the most difficult to restore."
Fire survivors are often in the situation of not really knowing what they need. When you need absolutely everything, you almost can't fathom the expanse and the expense you are facing. Insurance will hopefully cover much of what they need to rebuild their home and obtain new belongings, but one thing they are concerned about is being able to replace the acres of trees that they loved.
As you are able, please donate and share this gofundme page. If you aren't able to donate, no problem...please share, share, share! Just the act of seeing the support pour in is bolstering, so let's show Paul and Adina how much we care about them, and that we are here to help them get through this life-changing experience.
