Please help support our friend and colleague Amanda Bach and her family, who survived a house fire on Saturday, January 31, 2026. A chimney fire devastated their log home of 24 years, their dream home that they designed and built almost entirely with their own hands over 3 years. We are so grateful that Amanda, her husband Randy, and their dog Rocky got out unharmed. Their children, Rachel and Nathan, were away from the family home at the time. Despite the incredible work of dozens of firefighters from several townships working in 10-degree weather, the house is likely unrecoverable. The second floor is gone and the first floor and basement are significantly damaged by water and are now encased in ice owing to the unprecedented arctic weather in the Northeast.
The Bachs have been so thankful for the outpouring of support and generosity from neighbors who are providing temporary housing and basics as they start a long journey of recovering, relocating, and rebuilding. And they are touched by the interest so many of us have shown in helping them regain their footing, which is why this GoFundMe has been created, to give us an avenue by which to help. Donations will go toward noncovered expenses as they replace everything.
