On Saturday night, our home experienced an unexpected fire that started in one of the bedrooms due to a space heater. Thankfully, everyone is safe, but the damage to the room and surrounding areas was severe. The space is now completely unlivable — the bed and furniture were burned, the ceiling and walls were damaged, and smoke and soot have covered much of the home.

Because of the extent of the fire and smoke, all three of us who were sharing this home together are now displaced. We’ve had to leave the house immediately and stay with friends or in temporary housing. We’re grateful to God to be safe, but the situation has been overwhelming and emotionally heavy for all of us.

There are a lot of unexpected expenses we’re facing right now, including:

• Replacing the burned bedroom furniture and essentials

• Laundering and dry cleaning all of our clothes due to smoke damage

• Temporary housing and transportation

• Daily expenses from being displaced

• Food and necessities while we’re unable to cook at home as the power is out in the kitchen

• Cleaning supplies and replacement items lost in the fire

We are setting a goal of $3,000 to help cover these shared emergency needs as we figure out next steps and begin to rebuild our sense of stability. Any amount — big or small — truly helps lighten the load.
