Hello, my name is Kelly, and on January 8th at approximately 4am, my mother-in-law Mary, who is 80, and I had to evacuate our home in Altadena. This would be the last time we would be able to see it standing. Within hours, a fire that had started earlier the previous night had completely destroyed the place we called home.
Both of us had lost our spouses/partners in 2016 and 2017, leaving us widowed. Now, in 2025, we find ourselves without a home and any items other than a few clothing items. The car Mary drove has been damaged as well by falling tree branches. My youngest child and grandchildren have also been affected because all clothing, toys, books, games, and art supplies were lost as well.
At this time, I'm reaching out to any that can or would like to donate so that we can start to gather essentials like clothing, shoes, jackets, and personal care items to start over. I've never experienced such a traumatic event and will forever be changed as a result. Thank you in advance for myself and my family, with much love and appreciation.
Side note: any donations are are going to be used for housing purposes and replacing anything I can to try to go back to a somewhat kind of normalcy but I know that will be difficult and takes some time. I know it’s going to be a long road to recovery but this is a good start thanks to everyone who will support during this journey
