On January 8th, a devastating fire destroyed the home on Nadia King’s property in rural Northern California. Our community has already come together to support the tenant who lost all of her belongings, and we are deeply grateful for the generosity shown so far.

This fundraiser is specifically for Nadia, the property owner, who is now facing a very different set of challenges. Because of the wildfire risk in our region, many rural homeowners, including Nadia , are unable to obtain fire insurance. This means the cost of debris removal, environmental cleanup, and rebuilding falls entirely on her.

The fire completely destroyed the home and left behind hazardous debris. Cleanup alone can cost thousands of dollars, and without insurance coverage, these expenses are overwhelming.

In addition to the cleanup, Nadia hopes to make a small unfinished cabin on the property safe and habitable so she has a place to stay during the recovery process. With limited housing options in our rural area, this cabin represents her best chance at stable shelter while she works to rebuild and restore the property.

Our goal is to help Nadia begin the recovery process with dignity and support. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps lighten the burden and moves this property one step closer to being safe and usable again. Funds will help cover essential cleanup needs, including renting a dumpster and the equipment required to safely remove debris. As the recovery process moves forward, there may be opportunities for community members to help with cleanup once the site is safe and properly assessed. Anyone with time, tools, or equipment who wishes to volunteer will be appreciated.
