Fire on Maui August 8-9, 2023

9/25:  Thank you all. We have reached our goal.   The Fehlmann family have settled into their ling term rental since the beginning of this month.  And though she and her kids have taken off work and school, they are back and returning to their routine.

Though this journey has ended, their lives begin anew.  Much Mahalo for your help, love, and support.  Blessings to you all.

8/14 eve:  you may have noticed that there are two fundraisers for the Fehlmann family.   Whether you donate to this one or the one by Jessica Reed,  the funds will support the Fehlman’s rebuilding their life and starting anew.  and yes, there is no doubt Jessica and I among many others hold Sabrina and her family dear to our hearts.  My blessings and appreciation to you all.

8/14/2023–Monday:  Aloha family.  First and foremost  much mahalo again for support and generosity.  Secondly,  a couple of you have suggested the monetary goal be raised.   So it has been as it was indicated that the initial goal may have on the low side.  After communicating with Sabrina and  hearing the gravity in her voice and seeing all the social media posts, having a revised goal is warranted.  Again much mahalo for your thoughts, prayers, and generosity.

Another update 08/11/2023: my heart is overflowing with gratitude to you all. This community is just amazing. My deepest thanks on behalf of my friend Sabrina and her family. Just sent her a pix of the $2000.00 plus donations made by all of you...

Update: Aloha friends, family, neighbors, colleagues...

We have reached our goal and then some. I'll be meeting up with Sabrina and giving her the funds as soon as possible. A HUGE Mahalo and Hugs to you all.

Original Post:

Aloha to all, I'm a teacher at Kalama Intermediate School, and one of my colleagues Sabrina Fehlmann (who just recently transferred to another school on Maui), and her family, husband and two young kids in elementary school, just lost their home.

At my friend's home that is not even 10 miles away, there are plumes of smoke mixed with dust from winds. Just texted her this morning to send her prayers and safety.

"Thank you. We are safe but our house is gone," was her words...and they just did major renovations to their home from bathroom to kitchen and everything in between in the past two years. Yes, she and her husband did the renovations themselves, saving money here and there.

The sweat, the tears, the beautiful kitchen, the bathroom, and the memories of their home have all evaporated.

She and her family must be devastated.

I was stunned and my heart was broken, but there must be a means to help her and her family.

So with that being said, I called her and asked if I could do this on her behalf and her family.

The funds will basically help her with the basic necessities: mostly food and other related items such as hygiene, and perhaps a temporary lodging as well.

Please kokua (help), whether it be a prayer or a donation or even sharing this with your friends and neighbors. All will be appreciated.
