Fire Museum of Memphis- Saving Lives for 25 years

In 2023, the Fire Museum of Memphis celebrates 25 years of teaching fire prevention and safety to save lives, reduce loss of property, and celebrate the history of the men and women of the Memphis Fire Department.
When the museum was opened in 1998, the number of fire-related deaths in the Memphis area was twice the national average. This was completely unacceptable. The prevention and safety taught at the museum have worked in conjunction with the Memphis Fire Department to lower the number of fire-related fatalities into the single digits. However, this is still too many so we are continually working to lower that number to ZERO!
In the 25 years since its opening, the Fire Museum of Memphis has been visited by over 1,000,000 people. These visitors, the majority of whom are school-aged children, learn important life-saving lessons while having fun. They can learn about calling 9-1-1 in an emergency, what firefighters do to protect them, what it's like being a 9-1-1 operator, how firefighting has changed over the last 150 years, and how progressive the Memphis Fire Department was during the Civil Rights Era.
We are asking for your assistance in helping us continue to teach fire safety and prevention for another 25 years and to another 1,000,000 visitors. Your donation will allow the museum to expand and upgrade exhibits with new technology to keep the message fresh while teaching fire safety and prevention.
The museum hopes to utilize the newest forms of technology. These technologies will include:
1. Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality are creating entire virtual museums with multiple exhibitions and allowing brick-and-mortar museums to expand their exhibits in limited physical space.
2. Photogrammetry – the process of taking photos and volumetric data at once – allows for the creation of a virtual model which can be scanned and then exists in 3D space
3. Holographic displays add an extra dimension to visuals
We need to keep reaching audiences in the fashion they are expecting to gain knowledge, please help us do that and celebrate 25 years of exceptional teaching.
