Fire in #HamOnt; Help Our Neighbours

Donation protected
Emergency funds urgently needed to help out our friends, Amr & housemates, and their kitty cat Mishmish, after a blaze set their home on fire today January 11th.

Awoken by the fire alarm, housemate Ali dragged his other housemate Joe out of the thick smoke today, calling 911 for emergency services. This emergency was immensely traumatizing on top of what the household of BIPOC young adults are living through, surviving a pandemic on precarious & direct essential labour as cleaners.  They were in their pyjamas, and unable to grab any belongings before the blaze.

Since Amr is self-employed with his own neighbourhood cleaning business, also employing his housemates as PT contractors, they have little to rely on to cover their immediate expenses. One of the residents was hospitalized following the incident. Amr is not elligible for EI as the owner of his own business, and he, Joe, and Ali are surviving the extreme stress of this incident. This emergency support will enable this homeowner and housemates to survive this incident. Amr's business has been set up as social enterprise to support BIPOC newcomers, and they are feeling the brunt of this incredibly difficult situation.

Fire damages estimated to be $200,000 as per the Fire Chief onsite today.  As savings are slim, and work is already limited due to the COVID lockdown, this immediate infusion of cash support will be greatly appreciated.

Funds raised will go towards:
-Immediate cash flow to purchase essential items, clothes, toiletries.
-Financial assistance to supplement fund first & last month's rent for one person, a newcomer, who needs to move out of a severely fire-damaged room for the foreseeable future
-Cash relief for Amr & housemates/co-workers to take time off of the work-week to recover from crisis
-Any other costs directly related to non-insurable *immediate* recurrent costs

Thank you for your support of a hard working business person & Amr Abdel Latif & his staff, university student housemates Ali & Joe during #Covid +Fire Emergency <3
