Update: thank you everyone who donated it has helped immensely, despite getting the emergency document to return home mohamed was stopped at Istanbul airport and not allowed on his next flight. He then had to purchase another ticket to London which is the only route they allowed him to take. I'm currently driving to pick him up now. Thanks for bringing my husband home safe guys ❤️
Hello everyone,
I'm reaching out in desperation on behalf of my husband, Mohamed, who has just survived a terrifying ordeal.
While travelling abroad, Mohamed was staying in a hostel on the 60th floor of Tiger Towers. Last night, a devastating fire broke out on the 61st floor. In the chaos, Mohamed not only managed to escape with his life but also bravely helped other residents and their children get to safety.
Despite reports in the news stating that emergency accommodation and medical support were provided to all residents, this has sadly not been the case for Mohamed.
He lost everything in the fire—his passport and belongings. He received emergency medical attention and is physically safe, but he’s traumatised and exhausted. He spent last night in a temporary place he found on his own, but now he has nowhere to go, limited funds, and no access to basic necessities.
He has nothing but his phone and a carrier bag of laundry he was carrying at the time of the fire. The building, although reported as no longer burning, is still on fire internally according to recent confirmation from people on-site.
Mohamed just needs a place to rest, some food, and enough to get clothes, local transport, and eventually pay the fees for an emergency passport to return to the UK. We do have travel insurance, but unfortunately, they won’t provide any support upfront—and I don’t have any cash to send him from here.
If you are able to help in any way, no matter how small, your kindness will make a huge difference. All donations will go directly to Mohamed so he can get back on his feet and return home safely.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May you be rewarded for your compassion and generosity
