My name is Cate Culp, and if you’ve been following me for any length of time you’ll know that in 2010 I went to Indonesia and started an orphanage. During my time in Indonesia I partnered with an unlikely ally. That man was Alit Semara, and for the past 12 years he has tirelessly and selflessly managed our entire Foundation, overseeing all of the extensive humanitarian projects that we have implemented over the past 12 and a half years.
Last night, at about midnight, his own family home was engulfed in flames, and completely gutted. This fire believed to have been started by an electrical fault, completely destroyed his family home which he shared with his parents, two brothers and their families. The tiny house regularly homes up to 12 people. But it has been his home for his entire life.
Now in their 80s, his parents have lost everything they own, and their entire family have been left homeless. The home was very humble but it was everything to them, and now it’s gone.
The family insists they will rebuild, but the costs to do so will be equivalent to 20+ years of their average income. They don’t have 20 years to wait. We have promised to raise as much money as we can to try to assist them in rebuilding, but more importantly in the short term, make sure they have beds to sleep in and a roof over their heads.
Any and all donations, no matter how small, will be very much appreciated ❤️
(All donated funds, minus the processing fees will be disbursed to Alit’s family, via international bank transfer we (Rodney & myself) will cover any international transfer fees.)
