Two of the veterinary nurses I have the privilege of working with lost everything to a house fire.
At 4am on the morning of 3/5/23, while their family was fast asleep, Joe Hughes suddenly awoke to intense heat against his back. His eyes opened to see the fire beginning to engulf their family home. Joe and his wife June Yew were able to get their two children, Nora, 5, and Olive, 3, out safely, along with their extended family. Tragically, they lost everything in this fire. They are uncertain of the whereabouts and safety of their beloved cat, Clifford, who suffers from diabetes.
They left their house without coats, shoes, glasses or wallets. They are starting over with nothing but the support of family and community.
Currently, this family is safe and temporarily housed. But this will be a very long road to recovery. We are asking for any amount of donation you are willing to provide to help this beautiful family get back on their feet. Please come together and offer anything you can.
