Fire destroys Albert Potgieter Designs Workshop

On Wednesday morning 28 June 2023, a fire broke out at Keilewerf 1 Warehouse in Rotterdam and burnt it to the ground within an hour.

Keilewerf is a creative hub where multiple designers, steelworkers, architects, furniture makers and musicians, have built their own workshops, studios or showrooms. It was also the location where Albert Potgieter design operated from. This is where all the designs and projects were created, made and stored.

Albert, along with all the other entrepreneurs, not only lost their workspace, but also all their tools, equipment, projects and finished products.

Albert Potgieter Designs is a Furniture art design studio. Specializing in unique handmade Furniture-Art pieces. Using his background in Physiotherapy and the skills that he was taught (to look and feel), he designs his furniture pieces. His dream is to use Unique Furniture art to make a difference.

The heart of the business was (AND STILL IS) to reach people and teach people, through mentorship and by giving people a set of skills, regardless of their background or education.
