Hello, my niece and nephew Gabrielle and Chris Dunlap are a wonderful young couple just getting started in life together. They were married two years ago in the middle of the pandemic in a beautiful ceremony that almost no one could attend.

They’ve had personal setbacks with jobs, health and family but persevered through it all, sustaining their love for each other and their care for everyone around them.

But on the evening of July 29 a devastating fire swept through the apartment building in Oakbrook Terrace where they were living.

Chris and Gabrielle, along with their faithful dog Teddy, barely escaped with their lives and little else. They ran out of the apartment in their pajamas with not even Gabrielle‘s wedding ring. Now they’ve found out that their renters insurance may not pay. They are relying upon the kindness of family but literally have nothing left. Not clothes, not furniture … nothing but each other.
