Yesterday, our dear friend lost her entire home in a devastating fire that left nothing behind but ashes and heartbreak. Many of you in the community likely saw the smoke, heard the sirens, or read about the tragedy on social media. What you may not know is that this fire took everything from her in an instant—except her life and the lives of her two loyal dogs, who saved her by alerting her to the fire just in time.
She escaped with only the pajamas on her back and her two dogs—no shoes, no belongings, no time to gather anything. The fire department believe the fire was electrical in nature, but it spread too quickly to stop before emergency responders arrived.
She is a retired, widowed woman who has always shown strength and resilience, even in the face of personal loss and health challenges. She has several upcoming medical procedures, including knee surgery and treatments for her eyes, making this an especially vulnerable time.
Her family is offering support, but the needs are overwhelming. She has lost not just a house, but a lifetime of memories, comfort, and security. She now faces the immense task of starting over from absolutely nothing—while also preparing for major health procedures.
I’ve known her for over a year now. I used to walk one of her sweet dogs and helped care for them when she traveled. As a single mother, I wouldn’t have been able to support myself financially the first year of my daughter’s life without her help. She is kind, generous, and has always treated her animals like family. They repaid that love by saving her life.
This GoFundMe is to help her rebuild—to provide for essentials like clothing, toiletries, temporary housing, medical copays, and the many unforeseen expenses that come after a loss like this.
Every dollar truly helps. Whether you can donate, share, or send a kind message, thank you for standing with her during this time. She has lost everything—but with our help, she doesn’t have to go through it alone.
With gratitude,
Savannah
