❤️ Help the Cheapseats Staff Recover After a Devastating Fire

Early this past Sunday morning, a sudden electrical fire tore through Cheapseats, the sports bar and grill so many of us in Oswego have called home. In just minutes, the entire interior of the building was lost. What once was a warm, lively gathering place is now gone — and with it, the jobs of 14 hardworking, dedicated staff members.

Cheapseats wasn’t just a bar.

It was a community hub — the spot for Bills games, quick dinners, family outings, first dates, and familiar faces behind the bar. The people who worked there gave everything to make it the kind of place locals loved coming back to.

Now, through no fault of their own, that entire staff is suddenly unemployed at the start of winter… and right before the holidays.

Oswego winters are brutal.

Bills don’t pause.

Families still need to be fed.

Every single staff member — cooks, bartenders, servers, and the kitchen crew — has a household depending on their income. Some are parents. Some are supporting aging relatives. Some were already barely making ends meet in a seasonal town where winter work is hard to find. This fire didn’t just take a building — it took their stability.

Why We’re Asking for Help

This GoFundMe is to provide direct financial support to every displaced staff member while the owners assess damage and figure out the future of the business.

Your donations will help cover:

Rent & winter heating

Groceries

Childcare

Transportation

Emergency expenses

Lost income during rebuilding

We want to make sure no one on the Cheapseats team falls through the cracks during this crisis.

A Tough Time to Lose Everything

If you live in Oswego, you know how unforgiving our winters can be — and how difficult it is to suddenly lose your job in December when seasonal work is nearly impossible to find. Many of these workers have nowhere else to turn.

How You Can Make a Difference

Even a small donation can help keep a roof warm, keep a fridge full, or keep a family steady until rebuilding plans are underway.

Please consider:

Donating any amount

Sharing this link on social media

Tagging Oswego community pages, local groups, alumni, bar regulars, and friends

Every share expands our reach and helps a family breathe a little easier.

Thank You

The Cheapseats staff has always shown up for this community — now we’re humbly asking the community to show up for them. On behalf of the entire team: thank you for caring, thank you for sharing, and thank you for helping us get through this devastating moment.

We will post updates regularly as we learn more about the rebuilding process and share how funds are being distributed.

Oswego sticks together — and together, we’ll help the Cheapseats family get back on their feet.
