FF Shaffer’s road to recovery

On October 30th, Nick was hospitalized with what he ended up being pneumonia and sepsis after showing few symptoms of illness. He spent several days in Hanover hospital recovering after being just hours away from death by septic shock. He was on the mend and sent home to complete his recovery. On November 14th he was cleared to return to work and we thought he was continuing to recover. However the morning of November 16th, Nick was admitted to Hanover Hospital once again. It was determined that his pneumonia had worsened and that there was a possible abscess or mass in his lung. His Bronchoscopy was cancelled and he was transferred to York hospital by ambulance to meet with a Thoracic Surgeon to determine his next steps.

While in limbo of treatments and additional testing we are setting up this Go Fund Me.

Nick has been off work for a month now from his Job as a Baltimore City Firefighter, his Deputy Chief position with United Hook and Ladder and his job as a dispatcher with the Adams County 911 center.  With no end in sight we have set this up to help alleviate some stress in him and his family. His work does not have any disability while he is hospitalized. 

With Nick hospitalized he is unable to work his part time job nor overtime. His wife quit her job to stay home and take care of him and their children prior to this second hospitalization.  They are also dealing with the health of their daughter Lillian who was recently diagnosed with AMPS  (Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome) requiring home bound studies and numerous testing, appointments, and treatments in Philadelphia.

On top of this go fund me we would like to set up a meal train as well once they finally get home whenever that may be. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
