Hi, my name is Aminezge Haile. I am married and a father of three kids. For the past 12 months, I was employed as a truck driver. I worked day and night driving across states. Sometimes I would only see my family after 3 months. I worked hard to save money so I can buy my truck and drive it to make money to support my family. After going through many challenges as a driver, I saved up some cash and borrowed some from friends and finally, on Friday afternoon of 03 February 2023, I bought my truck from a private party for $43,000.00. Since it was a weekend, however, I could not register the truck at the DMV and the physical damage insurance was not effective yet. So, I decided to park my truck at a safe and secure location until it was ready to be on the road.

I found a parking lot for a semi-truck for $150 a month. The parking lot is owned by NFL Logistics LLC, and is located at 4050 Telephone Road, Dallas, TX 75241. I paid $150 for the month and parked my truck there. The next day was Sunday, I went to the parking lot to clean the truck and get it ready for work. But when I got parking garage, I saw fire and smoke coming from where I parked my truck. As I got close to the fire, I saw a red truck that was parked next to my truck was on fire. And to my worst fear, the fire had already spread to my truck. I watched as my newly bought truck turned to ashes.

According to the police report and Investigation based on witness statements and fire patterns, the fire didn't start inside the engine compartment of either semi-truck. Video provided by witnesses at the scene shows a large amount of smoke coming from the truck parked on the left side of my truck. Did someone set the red truck on fire? I don’t know! To add insult to injury, the parking lot had no security cameras or liability insurance. I reached out to the parking lot owners and managers to discuss if there is any possibility that I can get compensated for the loss of my truck. However, they told me they were not responsible. And as a good gesture, they could help me with only $1000 cash for the damage caused to their property. Let me remind you that my truck’s physical insurance was not effective when it was burned. I am left to carry the burden of this tremendous loss. I am sad beyond words, disappointed, hopeless, and finically broken. My goal as a new immigrant was to improve the finance of my family and of my mother back home. so that my kids can thrive in this new country. But I am not lucky to see my hard-earned money get eaten up with fire in front of my own eyes. I would be very grateful if you could financially help me so I can get back on my feet again and work to support my family.
