“Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection." - Prophet Muhammad ﷺ [Sahih Muslim]

Support Families in Crisis – Help Us Make a Difference

The Kanata Muslim Association (KMA) is committed to providing vital support to individuals and families in need within our community. Your generosity enables us to uplift deserving families facing heart-wrenching challenges in the Ottawa/Gatineau area. Together, we can change lives, just as we’ve done for families like Firdous and Hafsah, alhamdulillah.

A Mother's Sacrifice: Firdous and Hafsah’s Journey of Survival

In 2008, Firdous* arrived in Canada with her husband and four young children, filled with hope for a brighter future. Her husband’s student visa and scholarship provided them with an opportunity to pursue their dreams. Firdous worked tirelessly, supporting her family while her husband focused on his studies. But what started as a dream soon became a test of patience and faith.

As the pressure of studies grew, Firdous’s husband began experiencing serious health issues, which led to severe mental health struggles. His four-year program stretched into a decade, leaving Firdous to shoulder the financial responsibility of the household. Meanwhile, their eldest daughter, Hafsah*, stepped up to care for her younger siblings as her mother worked day and night.

However, Firdous’s strength began to wane, and her own health started to deteriorate. When she became pregnant with their fifth child, she had to quit work, pushing the family deeper into financial hardship. Health coverage was limited, and her condition worsened without treatment. The Canada Child Benefit helped but was not enough to keep the family afloat.

In 2021, overwhelmed by his own struggles, Firdous’s husband made the devastating decision to leave his family and return to Africa. He pressured their 17-year-old daughter, Hafsah, to marry a stranger in Africa and abandon her dreams of higher education. Hafsah, raised in Canada with aspirations of attending university, broke down under the weight of this pressure and was hospitalized.

In a moment of immense courage, Firdous stood up for her daughter, refusing to let her be forced into a life she didn’t choose. Her husband left for Africa alone, abandoning his family. Firdous, now with no work permit or financial assistance, was left to fend for herself and her children.

Your Generosity Makes a Difference

Alhamdulillah, with the support of our incredible community, Firdous and Hafsah have found stability, healed from their hardships, and started to rebuild their lives. But many other families are still struggling in silence, facing challenges just as daunting.

Your donation can provide hope and stability to those in crisis. Please give today and help us continue supporting families like Firdous and Hafsah. Together, we can bring relief to those in need, ensuring that no one has to face their struggles alone.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan for your support. May Allah reward you abundantly!
