FIP Treatment for Rex Buddy

Hi everyone, my name is Cece. My girlfriend and I recently adopted our first fur baby Rex, who is five months old and the sweetest little guy.

Unfortunately, our boy was diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), a deadly viral disease caused by certain strains of feline coronavirus. Rex’s symptoms include lethargy, excessive abdominal bloating, difficulty going to the bathroom, and loss of appetite. After running many tests, we were aware that we had a difficult decision to make. Our vet told us that we would have to put him down or undergo extensive treatment. We decided that we weren’t ready to give up on him.

In licensed veterinary terms, FIP is still considered incurable. However, there is a treatment available called GS-441524. This cure was found several years ago, and vets in the US still do not have access to this treatment. After seeing how devastated we were, our vet directed us to a support group called FIP Warriors, where he had heard of treatment before but could not do anything further since “none of this is in the textbooks.” Once we joined the group, we witnessed how this treatment saved many kitties diagnosed with FIP around the world!

After doing research with my girlfriend, the treatment needed based on his weight would cost upwards of $2,000 and this would be on top of the many tests, vet visits, and abdominal fluid draining that we need to do weekly. The treatment is an 84-day process, depending on his progress reports and test results. Rex cannot miss a single day of treatment as it would put him at a high risk of relapse. It has been very hard financially, mentally, emotionally, and physically. We are currently a few days in with the treatment, but we need your help continuing his chance to being cured.

Rex means the world to us; this treatment is our only hope for him to beat this disease. We understand that it is the holiday season and it is difficult for us to ask for help, but any support that is given would be deeply appreciated.
