Fiona's Greatest Cut

As many of you know Cancer has affected my life and those of my family life over the years. This year to contribute to Worlds greatest shave from 15-19th March I will be chopping my hair quite short (sorry no shave lol) to support those who are battling these horrible diseases. This includes a friend and beautiful co-worker Belinda. All money raised will go to a World’s Greatest Shave account for Belinda and my hair will be donated to Sustainable Salons (sustainablesalons.org) for someone to receive a wig made with my hair, to see them through a time where their own self esteem can be deeply affected. I feel this is the least I can do to support someone who has supported me over the last 5 years and many others I have know who have gone through this situation within their lifetimes.

A bit of back story of my inspiration for the cause. 7 years ago, Bel went to the doctors with headaches, dizziness and light headed. Tests were done and it was discovered that she had a rare and aggressive type of brain tumour. She had surgery to remove the tumour and radiation to limit the return of the tumour.

Last year 2022, Bel started having back pains, shortness of breath and pains. She went for scans and test to find out what was wrong. The tests showed Bel had a large tumour in her lungs, spine and liver and further tests showed it as cancer.

Over the last year Bel has been an absolute trooper and inspiration as she has been bashed about with cancer, the treatment to help her survive and exhaustion. While fighting for her life, Bel has continued to strive forward with her life as normal as she can. Still coming into her work supporting children with their growth, development and all with a warm smile and cuddle for them. She is always trying to stay strong and be the fighter we all know she is. She is absolutely a bloody amazing woman showing everyone who knows her the incredible strength that she has as she tries to continue life as normal all while fighting this battle.

As a person who has been greatly affected in my life by cancer, I implore you to donate so we can assist Bel in a bit of relief financially in this exhausting and stressful time period. With the beautiful help of my dear friend/hairdresser Emma (Hair Room at Mount Annan, #hair_roomat_mountannan who is donating her time and skills for free to cut my hair which we will be live streaming as it is done. I would love to support and raise as much as I can for this beautiful person and a cause that touches and impacts so many of our lives. I may not be able to do much but I will strive to do this for others who are already having the hardest time possible.
