Fiona's Emergency Surgery: We Need Your Help

Fiona is our family dog. We rescued her from a Miami shelter in 2017. She was set to be euthanized as she was super timid and nobody wanted to take her home. Fortunately, she got lucky with us and we got lucky with her. Fiona was and is such a great dog, although she can be shy sometimes. Our house has a lot of land and we let our dogs roam the acre throughout the day with the gate closed, of course.

Yesterday, 02/21/2025, I was coming home from running errands and realized someone had opened our gate. To my surprise, just down the street, there was Fiona walking. I immediately pulled over and tried to catch up to her to take her home. Being that she's timid, she recognized me but started running home instead of coming back towards me. I could not catch up to her. People on our street have no consideration and are always flying down a 35 mph marked road. Fiona was ready to cross the street to enter our driveway and within seconds, a woman driving down didn't slow down and hit her. Immediately, I picked up Fiona and drove her to the emergency hospital. It was obvious to me she had broken her front left leg. What wasn’t so obvious was if she had a concussion or some type of internal bleeding.

At the hospital, they did a bunch of X-rays and sedated our girl so they could splint her leg. By the grace of God, Fiona did not sustain any injuries to any of her internal organs; however, her front left leg was completely broken. She will need to see an orthopedic for surgery. They will have to put pins in to help the bone ossify correctly. My mom and I spent $1,600 just on X-rays and a look-through to make sure she was okay to take home. Upon doing research, it will cost us anywhere from $2,000-$5,000 for her leg surgery. We just don't have that type of money, nor do we have any possibilities of obtaining that type of money soon enough to help our poor Fiona. That is why I created this GoFundMe.
