Fiona Has Terminal Cancer and Nowhere to Live — Please Help
Donation protected
My name is Kate Forster and I am raising money for my friend, Fiona Newson, who is an indigenous woman, and has just received the unthinkable: a diagnosis of Stage 4 Primary Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. After months of treatment at Peter Mac, the chemotherapy is no longer working. Fiona has now been told the cancer is terminal, with an estimated prognosis of six months without chemo to keep it at bay, to three or four years, if she’s lucky.
In the midst of this already heartbreaking situation, Fiona and her family have now been evicted. Her husband’s employer is months behind in payments, leaving them unable to cover rent or relocate. They are currently relying on her workers' compensation from a previous injury and scraping together the basics.
Fiona is not just a mother fighting for more time, she’s also the carer of an 11-year-old autistic child who has already experienced too much upheaval, including surviving a home marked by domestic violence. Stability, safety, and dignity should be the very least they’re afforded right now.
This GoFundMe will help cover:
• Rent and urgent relocation costs
• Basic living expenses like food and utilities
• Medical costs not covered by the system
• Support for Fiona’s child through this transition
• Anything left will help towards long-term care planning or funeral costs when the time comes
Fiona is deeply private but has agreed to share updates and photos so you can see exactly how your kindness is helping her family. Even the smallest donation can make an enormous difference right now. If you cannot give, please share this fundraiser with your community.
Let’s surround Fiona and her family with the care they need and deserve.
This money goes directly to Fiona and her partner Dan into their account, not through me. I am merely the organiser.
