Finny's Melanoma Journey
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Whitney & I'm Finny's Human/Momma.
Finny and I have been side-by-side since the moment I got him. He was 3 months young, a whoppin' 35lbs and cute as ever. He still is. Anyone who knows Finny knows he is the BEST boy.
Fast forward to year 8...everything is going great. Or so I thought.
One brisk winter morning, while out walking Finny, I noticed a black mass hanging out of his mouth (he smiles a lot). I had a gut feeling about it and I called my vet and requested an appointment to have it looked at. Upon checking it out, Dr. Beer and I scheduled surgery for the next week.
The biopsy came back. It was news that I didn't want to hear.
The "C" word.
Cancer.
"oral melanoma"
AND. Of course, this cancer is aggressive as hell. So we get to act quickly. The fact that the Dr's are telling me he's got a really good chance of living a really a good few years (if we proceed with treatment) is promising (usually dogs who have this diagnosis are too late in the game and there's nothing much you can do!) Well, we've got a shot and we're gonna do what it takes!
Within 3 weeks, treatment looks like:
1. CT Scan - $1250-1750
2. Surgery (depending on what we find in CT scan, part of his jaw may need to be removed due to spreading of cancer cells into the bone - i'm manifesting this isn't a thing.) - $2500-3500
3. Hospital Stay / Medications - ???
I am grateful for any support. Donations can be made here, to my personal Venmo or directly to the oncology department at The Ohio State University. c/o Finnigan/Whitney Brewer.
Anyone who donates $250 or over will be gifted a free pet photoshoot by Whitney in the near future!
Thank you for loving and supporting us on this journey. Couldn't do it with you, quite literally.
