Finnegan's Fighiet

As some of you know, Colin and I had an anything but normal delivery 7 months ago. During delivery, Finnegan became stuck and as a result, I was rushed into an emergency c-section. While that was scary enough, we never thought we would be faced with the scare of almost losing our son. When he was delivered, he required resuscitation due to losing oxygen while being stuck. After being resuscitated, he was having seizures and needed immediate medical attention. Because of this, he was rushed to Albany Medical Center’s NICU. We were able to hold Finn for maybe 5 minutes before he needed to leave. By far one of the worst feelings after delivery, is having your baby taken away from you. We struggled with trying to remain grateful he was alive. We struggled with not seeing him for 3 days. We struggled with wondering why this happened to us. We struggled with not have family able to visit for support. We struggled with a lot.

Finn ended up being diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE). HIE is, in short, a brain injury due to lack of oxygen. We cannot express enough how amazing and supportive the Albany Medical team and the Ronald McDonald House team were. After a very long week of new appointments that were never anticipated, new doctors that were never thought of, new anxieties that we had no idea were possible, and just an all around very different outcome, we finally came home. After leaving Albany Med, we made a promise that no matter what, we would somehow make something positive come out of this.

We are not the type of people to get personal on social media, but if there were a time, now would be it. We decided to design and create some merchandise to sell, to fundraise money to help families struggling with similar situations as we did. We will continue thinking of new ideas and new ways to raise money, but we think this is a good place to start! Please share, browse, tell friends and family, and do whatever you can to help. We also created a Facebook and Instagram page for anyone that would like to follow along as we think of new ways to fundraise and share all distributions to families and/or organizations. As a note ALL proceeds made with be going to help NICU and HIE families.
