Finn's Village Rising - FINNSTRONG

Hello friends, family, and Finn's supporters!! We come to you today with a need that has been diligently prayed about and over by many people who love and adore, not only Finn, but the entire Mummert family!
As the old saying goes, " it takes a village to raise a child" We are asking if Finn's village could step up and help this family. They have some very specific needs right now in order to be prepared for Finn's release to come home (which we are all praying will be soon!!) ❤
Let me give you some insight into this amazing family! James and Emily, Finn's daddy and mommy, are two of the kindest, humble, loving, and giving people you will ever have the pleasure of knowing. Not many people realize the journey their life has taken them on. So, with permission, I'm going to share a little so everyone can truly understand why the desire to help them is so strong for so many.
James and Emily were married and expecting their first child when they were given the news that their first born son, Harrison, had Trisomy 18. Emily carried Harrison until her water broke but upon arriving, they were informed he had already passed away. Emily delivered Harrison and they were able to see, hold, and love on this beautiful son that the Lord blessed them with. Following his passing on May 29,2012, their family and themselves made it their mission to raise funds for Dayton Children's Hospital in Harrison's memory. Harrison's Heroes raised nearly $100,000 in 6 years for the hospital!
During some of this time, James was serving in our U.S. Air Force for 4 years and served in the reserves for 4 additional years and was even deployed during one of the races.
James and Emily went on to have two more amazing sons, Marshall and Owen. James took a career turn and decided to go into the ministry. They felt led to follow what the Lord was calling James to do and so they sold their home and James was blessed to get a job at Be Hope Church in Beavercreek, Ohio. He is serving there as the high school pastor and Emily is the office manager of the Beavercreek Christian Learning Center out of Be Hope.
Upon moving to Beavercreek for these positions they rented for a while until they were able to purchase due to the job change. With this career change came a large cut in income that they had anticipated but that obviously played a role in affordability when it came to their new home purchase. I was blessed to be able to help them in finding their home here in Beavercreek and I will never forget how excited they were! At the time of purchase, in fact days prior to closing, they found out that Emily was expecting what would soon be their little Finn!!
This new home would supply just enough room for the new baby, so they were thrilled to be getting settled before his arrival. We closed on their property and weeks later they received the news at their ultrasound that something was potentially wrong with the baby. I remember James calling me and I honestly didn't even know what to say. They would have to wait weeks before they were going to be seen by the specialist to do further scans. Upon those scans they discovered Finn had down syndrome but truthfully nothing could have prepared them for the year they have faced since his birth. Finn was born on December 27,2018. To date Finn has the following diagnosis'; complete av
canal septal defect, pulmonary hypertension, chronic lung disease, Hirschsprungs disease, kidney issues, thyroid issues, tracheostomy, and a g tube. Little Finn has spent his entire first year of life in the hospital. He has had numerous surgeries and setbacks BUT we serve an amazing God and Finn is a fighter! This little mountain mover is tough and God has big plans for him. He is getting better day by day and James and Emily have been being prepared for his eventual release home... yes...you heard me right.... they're starting to prepare to bring him home once he is ready! But here... here is where their need comes in... Upon this preparation from the hospital and going over everything Finn will require, they were informed he will be required to have an at home nurse around the clock. Spending the nights there as well to ensure Finn is good. Not to mention any required machines that may also have to follow him home. With that being said, James and Emily were overwhelmed with how they would make this work with their current home. It is only a little over 800 sq. Ft. with only 2 bedrooms on the main level. They never anticipated needing any more space than that when they bought.
Who would ever expect this? James had reached out to me for prayer for them and the situation. I prayed about it and felt led to ask if he minded if I set up some fundraising events for them as a family. I then reached out the several people that just love and adore them and we have been working on this all ever since! Why?.... because there is a true need here for this family.
They're more than deserving. During these valleys, the struggles, the endless days at the hospital, having lost 1 child and facing this with another, they have never stopped giving! They have been so incredibly selfless. They've never once stopped being the hands and feet of Christ! Not only has James served our country. While his child was in the hospital and him and his wife were going days only passing each other to attend to their next task, when the tornadoes hit our city he worked 12 straight days(over 110 hrs) helping the victims clean up. Emily held down the fort at home and with Finn. They've raised all the money for Dayton Children's. James has led the Night to Shine at Be Hope and put so much love, prayer, and work into those in our community for this event. All the while, James and Emily never even have a night together. They take turns, with help on the weekends from family, staying with Finn. Their lives have been nothing short of chaotic, stressful, overwhelming, sometimes defeating, lonely, and hard this past year but instead of complaining, they're still being the body!
But if we are the body
Why aren't His arms reaching?
Why aren't His hands healing?
Why aren't His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren't His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
There is a way, there is a way
It's our turn friends! It is our turn to be the body! To stand up as Finn's Village and bless this family with help to ensure they have a place sufficient to bring their son home and provide the nursing staff the room they will need. Please join us in blessing them beyond belief!
Any donations are so very appreciated! We also would like continued prayer for Finn, our little mountain mover as well! Thank you all! If you'd like to visit his facebook FINNSTRONG page to read more about his story, please click the link below. God Bless
